(RedState) On February 5th, the Senate Judiciary Commitee will have a hearing on President Obama’s nomination of David Ogden’s to be Deputy Attorney General, the number two position in the Justice Department. In 1992, Ogden argued before the United States Supreme Court that abortion has healthy psychological effects and adoption has negative psychological effects. Will the Senate Judiciary Committee rubber stamp another Obama nominee or will they ask tough questions next week of this nominee to discern if Ogden is an extremist on the issue of abortion? I am betting rubber stamp. On March 6, 1992, Attorney David Ogden signed an amicus brief for the American Psychology Association in Planned Parenthood v Casey, 505 U.S. 833 (1992), arguing: From Page 23 of Ogden Brief submitted in Casey:
Yet another nominee with an excellent resume and a history of liberal activism. Ogden and Attorney General Nominee Eric Holder were mentored by Janet Reno in the Clinton Justice Department and the apples have not fallen far from the tree. One wonders if the Senators that voted in support of Eric Holder to Be Attorney General, notwithstanding his abysmal record on the Second Amendment and his political distribution of commutations to the terrorist FALN, will raise an eyebrow when they learn of Ogden’s brief. |
